Generations in the workplace is one of favorite topics. I was introduced to it in a seminar that had everyone look at the different events/developments that shaped each generation. One of the things that struck me is that the GenXers were the latch-key kids. So, we grew up as incredibly independent people.

Generations are often overlooked in diversity training and it needs to be addressed! I'm going to check out the book too...

I thought about doing something with MJ's videos but I can't seem to find the right words. He's been a part of my musical background for so long that whatever I might say would just be inadequate. I can remember standing at the school bus stop and everyone was singing the words to PYT (Pretty Young Thing) and that's pretty significant since I don't remember much else about waiting to catch the bus.

I love driving with my windows down in the summer, and the AC running full blast ... there's just something about the smell of fresh air and the sense of being "outdoors" (even while riding) that I really enjoy, so this was a post I could really identify with! I came to visit your site today looking for a YouTube tribute to Michael Jackson's music. No historic Jackson Five clips??

Erica,
I am still working on the Tipping Point and really enjoying it. I too think about how small changes can create big results and how that could be in use in my work place. There is so much in this book that seems to be applicable in my workplace. I might be out of school, but I am learning all the time :)

Love this post! This could be required viewing for a session on "transformative learning" or maybe the entire adult development course. I am most intrigued by your move to this new blog site ... can you give me a primer sometime before Fall semester? I'd like to offer our students an alternative to what we've been using, with its ads. You've done a great job with links, and moving your "stuff."! You're on my RSS reader now so I can enjoy regular Fridays. Great taste in music ... stuff I've never seen before:-)

Ha! No I haven't signed up for the test yet. I am going to seek advice from Dr. C in June about what I want to be when I grow up (assuming I do grow up).

Erica,
I agree with you about your new calling. You have such ability with the technology and your are more than prepared to design instruction. Sounds like a perfect fit. I know you will find the right niche. Glad to see you are still blogging - you are better than me. Have you signed up for your GMAT yet? :)
