Portfolio

This page originally began life as a location to store examples of my best work in the MEd Adult Learning program at VCU.  Since that chapter of my life has ended, I’ve converted this page to house my resume, a teaching philosophy statement and links to examples of elearning in which I’ve filled the role of instructional designer.

This is my Teaching Philosophy Statement.

This is my resume.

The links below are to preview versions of elearning courses I’ve worked on as the instructional designer. If faced with a SCORM warning, select the Proceed button. Some of the courses require a login (simply an email and a password).

At my place of employment we tend to place courses into Flash templates and so you’ll see courses that have a similar look and feel. Call it branding if you’d like. I write the content for the courses, source images and come up with ideas for interactions. We have a talented Flash/graphics person who brings the content to life. I have final say over how the information is presented so in that regard I use project management skills to see the course from its beginning through the process of publishing.

This is my first elearning course and I’m especially proud of the watering can interaction in module one, screen 4 of 5:
CWS1002: Exploring Child Welfare

This course was published in April 2010:
CWS2020: Child Protective Services for On-Call Workers

This course was published in May 2009:
CWS5501: Substance Abuse

This course was published in September 2009:
CWS4010: Transformation Overview

As you can see, I’m quite an expert on mandated reporting (we have a series of courses):
CWS5692: Mandated Reporters: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
ADS5055: Mandated Reporters: Recognizing and Reporting Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of Adults
BPS2601: Mandatory Reporting for Eligibility Workers

The following files are related to a Jeopardy style game I created for course content review:
the game board
instructions for customizing the game board

Here is a Hollywood Squares style game I created for use in ILT classes:
woodsquares game board
instructions for customizing woodsquares game board

I recently created a Pyramid game for use as a review activity:

And, finally, this is a tutorial that I put together as a prerequisite for some of our instructor-led training sessions:
